HomeI recently got a cavity that needed a filling, and I wanted to know more about it. I specifically sought after a 90s-esque explanation of it, a la Outside In.
Actually that video is like a mind jack, once I started, I kept watching for 10 minutes. Welcome back yourself from your 10 minute foray!
Lessons from Growing a Piracy Streaming Site
Thank you @rz.
The whole site is worth reading.
I'll echo hackernews commenters here. It's pretty interesting how customer-friendly the operation sounds, in comparison to how predatory regular business is.
See you later alligator is so funny.
Sorry to link you to a store page. But I'm not sure if I can hotlink copyrighted material so .
Work, After Work: Notes From an Unemployed New Grad Watching the Job Market Break
A bit of late night non-fiction horror.
Being-in-the-Room Privilege: Elite Capture and Epistemic Deference
Surprisingly relevant article to Small thoughts. Quite a coincidence!
If I were to summarize it, I would say it suggests we should use standpoint epistemology in an outcomes based manner, rather than in a duty based manner. We should use it to raise concrete instances where margnialized groups are disregarded, rather than defer all opinion to the marginalized group, which has dubious efficacy.
Thank you @greg for sharing.
Intro to the Web Revival #1: What is the Web Revival?
If you asked me what is it that I want most in the world, it would be for all my friends to join the web revival movement.
The rest of the series goes into basics of a website. The target audience is for people who are interested in making a website without a website builder tool. That is, instaed of going to https://yourwebsite.com and clicking some "edit" button, you actually "code" the website, so to speak.
It's not really coding, in the formal sense. You're basically just writing content explicitly marking the structure ("this bit of text is a paragraph, this is a link to an image, this is a heading", etc.)
But if that's the sort of thing that excites you and you don't know much about web stuff, the series appears to be lovingly constructed.
Stagnant vs stable: Learning to tell the difference
Ms. Penelope's got a great voice, a style that trusts the reader to make the connections. I liked this article too, but I don't agree with everything she writes. But she doesn't come across as a liar or a grifter, so I don't mind sharing her articles.
Actually, writing this from the future. She's definitely got some ... more out there articles. But I still stand by that she's not a grifter.
She is a quote-unquote "life coach", and charges pretty handsomely for those services, but I mean, reading these articles, she's not trying to trick you into paying for her services, that's for certain.
